Italki experiences?
Has anyone used Italki or a similar platform to aid in their studies? I'm considering taking weekly lessons with a tutor, the main goal in specifically improving my speaking. I've lived in Japan for a few years and work in a Japanese company and while my comprehension is okay, my output is terrible and I always hesitate to speak. I'm hoping a tutor would give me some real-time feedback on my speaking and help build my confidence. I don't need a professional teacher / structured lessons and I guess my budget would be around ¥2000 for the hour (is it reasonable?) Please let me know your experiences.

I unexpectedly had the opportunity to move to Japan straight after university, and so took it. Before that, Japan and learning Japanese wasn’t even on my radar (I minored in German, hoping to work there actually).

I’ve been here for 5 years now and within the past year, I’ve been itching to try living somewhere else/learn new languages, but it’s not so easy when I’ve invested so much time into Japan/Japanese.

Took the N2. Considering they increased the price of the test, I was expecting a better experience, but it was still pretty chaotic and it seemed to be the proctors first time.

As for the test content, I thought the vocab and grammar was fair, but the listening was more difficult than I anticipated.

I probably failed though simply because I don’t read enough in Japanese, and had to rush through that section. Hoping to change that though.

That being said, I’m not sure if I’ll ever bother with the test again.
