Considering that instagram users pretty much have an account by default, this stat is pretty meaningless. What would be interesting is daily active users of threads software in a week or two.

The thing I’m liking the most about the fediverse so far is the lack of advertising, Lemmy and Mastodon (so far) have a much bigger emphasis on conversation and cool topics, and less on trying to sell us stuff which is really refreshing :)

Instagram iirc has about 1.6 billion users. They already have the user base, they just need to find a way to persuade everyone to try it.
The quality of the content is a different matter but I don’t think that’s the end goal.
