Too many politically charged comments, locking. We are a technology community, if you want to talk politics please do so in the appropriate community.

You and I both know it was not your first offense, you’re entitled to your opinion on the rest, but we don’t play with rule 3 - especially when it is blatantly ignored.

Also if you’d like to get an alert for why your comment was removed or why you were banned, I’d recommend making a feature request to the Lemmy devs, I agree it’d be nice to get alerted when you did something against the rules and what rule, we post that in the mod log but it unfortunately doesn’t tell the user without them digging into modlogs.

Have a good day!

Yes, we remove rule breaking comments/posts, that’s what moderators do.

You’ve had multiple rule breaking comments, especially last month.

Also, the modlog for every community is and has been public.

Typically no, that wouldn’t get it removed.

Only removed because the user is getting harassed elsewhere for the signature, and the comment was border-line rule 3.

Strengthening Community Bonds: business@lemmy.world
pin
Greetings everyone, We wanted to take a moment and let everyone know about the !business@lemmy.world community on Lemmy.World which hasn't gained much traction. Additionally, we've noticed occasional complaints about Business-related news being posted in the Technology community. To address this, we want to encourage our community members to engage with the Business community. While we'll still permit Technology-related business news here, unless it becomes overly repetitive, we kindly ask that you consider cross-posting such content to the Business community. This will help foster a more focused discussion environment in both communities. We've interacted with the mod team of the Business community, and they seem like a dedicated and welcoming group, much like the rest of us here on Lemmy. If you're interested, we encourage you to check out their community and show them some support! Let's continue to build a thriving and inclusive ecosystem across all our communities on Lemmy.World!

I don’t disagree, but easy solution would be not to look at this one post? Anything else as far as memes will be removed if posted

We are not allowing memes to be posted still, just inside this post itself as comments to hopefully avoid removing meme posts. We have had to remove multiple meme posts since the controversy began, hoping to alleviate that.

Unity Meme Post
pin
Seems that a lot of us have some funny Unity memes, which have been getting removed due to Rule 7. Making this post and pinning it for everyone to share their Unity memes about this whole fiasco, please only comment the memes here, if you make a post with one it will be removed.

I don’t see this in the mod log, what was the title? It most likely was removed for not being tech related, which makes sense based off this article.

Hey everyone! We have decided to do a banner and logo contest, here is how to participate: 1. Any submission must be commented below in its own thread, that way they are easy for everyone to find. **Any top level comments that are not a submission will be removed,** commenting on submissions thread is allowed. 2. Everyone can vote on the ones listed below to help the decision, but the mods will pick their favorites and make a separate post for the community to vote on. 3. Obviously the design must be tech/news related, all art forms welcome, and please no NSFW. You can submit just a banner, or just a logo, or both if you wish! 4. Winner will get sidebar acknowledgement and bragging rights. If multiple designs are liked by the community, we will most likely cycle threw a few different banners/logos throughout the year and give each credit on the sidebar. 5. Anything Elon Musk will be launched by Space-X directly into the sun at the speed of light. 6. Be excellent to each other! Any questions can be messaged to either [@enu@lemm.ee](https://lemm.ee/u/enu) or myself!

I’m unfortunately not very good with Steam and gaming, but have to ask the obvious: have you tried removing the controllers driver and reinstalling it?

Weekly tech discussion and tech support thread
Hey everybody, feel free to post any tech support or general tech discussion questions you have right here. As always, [be excellent to each other.](https://piped.video/watch?v=rph_1DODXDU) Yours truly, moderators.

For those who haven’t seen, there is now a poll for whether to keep the content bot active or turn it off: https://lemmy.world/post/1794808

Not currently, at least that we have been made aware of

This is just to try and combat single users voting more than once, but totally understand not turning it off.

I don’t disagree, I think L4s has done a good job here and have thought it might be time to pull the plug for almost 2 weeks now.

My only worry is that it creates a gap in conversations (due to less posts here), which might slow or reverse some of the growth, but that would be inevitable no matter when we decide to do it.

That’s why I think @PopBobert@lemmy.world’s poll is a good idea, if the community thinks it’s time then let’s do it.

That’s fair, my bot posts once an hour and checks it’s own previous posts. That is actually something I did not write, but pulled from github.

I wrote something in Python for videos that I can convert to the tech community, that one does check all community posts and won’t repost.

Yeah it’s a bit of a catch 22.

I’m also a bit bias on the subject, as I run @L4s@lemmy.world here, but will take it down if we feel it’s necessary.

Just wanted to let you know incase you are not aware, you can uncheck “show bot accounts” under settings, as long as the bot is marked appropriately you will no longer see bot posts.

We are listening to the input here, and will have a discussion around the topic.

Thought the same when I was reading this, weird they wouldn’t migrate here, unless they are unaware of the Fediverse

[EDIT]: This is actually a scam. Not sure if this is normal, created a sub 4 months ago. But yesterday I signed into Reddit to check if an admin has replied to a request I made and saw this, which was a little bizarre to me with everything going on...

O365 Email Encryption
My company is just starting to utilize O365 email encryption for sensitive information, which I know a lot of people are already using. One thing we've run into is when sending a sensitive email to a third-party vendor, a lot of them utilize shared mailboxes/distribution groups, so the encryption is not allowing the members of the external mailbox/group to open the encrypted email as their account doesn't have permissions (the group email address does, instead of their individual account). The only way I've come up with to solve this issue is setting the encrypted emails to not allow a "social" sign-on for decryption, and instead only offer "send a one-time passcode" as the authentication method, then the group/mailbox receives the code to view the email. Curious how others have combatted this issue if they've crossed it, this feature has been around a while and I am unable to find much on Google about it specifically. For the moment, users are just re-sending the encrypted email to the external recipient that replies "We can't open this email", which solves the problem but creates more work and takes longer for everyone.

I don’t disagree, but it’s definitely a shame the decentralized platforms are hard for the average user. Most want a video feed, ease of use, and loads of content. While we are getting there with content, the other two are currently lacking.

Hopefully we can make the ease-of-use thing a reality, it’s not realistic to explain to non-tech people how to utilize Lemmy, kbin, etc. Most will lose interest really fast

A few years ago I had a couple old and slow Optiplex's running Hyper-V, with Windows/Linux VM's, doing things like NPS, AD, etc. Had some old equipment collecting dust, so I've built out a decent homelab and am curious if anyone else has done the same, and if so what are they running on them for fun? In my new "rack": - PowerEdge R430 - Running ProxMox, with a Windows VM (DC), and a Linux VM with Docker for Plex - EqualLogic PS4100 - VM storage for both PowerEdge servers (10TB) - Ubiquiti EdgeSwitch 24 250w - PowerEdge R720 - Running ProxMox, with some Linux VM's, most utilizing Docker for Plex "assistance/automations" (ahem), NextCloud for phone photo backup and wife's photography, and another DC as a failover of R430's DC.
