There are two different ways how this can be implemented. Either data in Google Drive is being used as training material or Gemini is reading the drive data on users request as part of the prompt and not being used as training data.
Second one is way different, because it does not expose the data to third party. Copilot has been doing this for a year now.
I assume that is the second way
In properly set democracy this should not be possible. President should not have that kind of power to affect other branches of power.
In general president should not have too much power at all, because it is stupid to have just one person to be able to cause so much change in general. Looking at you US.
I am bit sceptical, but I hope it works. Company that I work is part of project that drills geothermal to 7km deep. This tech is challenging in general.
300 000 homes sounds to me near impossible. Also article talks 3,6MW, but doesn’t specify is it MWt or MWe. I assume it is heat, which to converted in turbine to electricity is less than 1.5MW electricity. Also talking about power (MW), but not energy (MWh) is bit strange, and to me sounds that it is just peak what they got.
Edit: the actual paper talks about peak power: https://eartharxiv.org/repository/object/5704/download/11142/
On embrace phase the intention is not malicious, they probably want things to grow. Corporations just in long run will eventually lead to someone asking “how can we capitalize this” and this lead the FOSS part of things to be cut out, and destroying the protocol at that point.
Fediverse should defederate every corporation and just grow naturally.
It happens in the extend part.
Large corporation will have much more resources, they will implement features and refactoring, which small open source teams do not have capability to implement. They will start pulling users because they support features that other do not.
This also means that they will start getting control.
And then finally they just cut the communication, and split the community. All the way they can claim to be working “for the community”
Embrace, extend, extinguish. Only proven way to destroy decentralized, free, open source solutions.
First stage embrace might not even be malicious, but with corporations it will eventually lead to someone thinking: how can we monetize our position. It is just nature how business works.

Everybody knew were the ship was, because at that time star link usage by area was shown publicly. There was map online that showed all clients online.
