It feels like in the US way more often than ever before people are buying in the luxury/premium car space. I stay exclusively on the cheap end because it’s all I need. The options for new economy cars shrink every year, but there’s a million pickup and SUV options. It seems normalized to spend way more on a car than you really need, partially because financing is offered on ridiculously long terms (5+ years) for a depreciating asset.

It was pretty useful as a kid for feeding my Gameboy and Game Gear with batteries I rescued from the junk drawers of friends and family. If they were low, I knew I had to save more often to avoid losing progress if they went dead while I was playing.

This would be terrible business if any pharma worked this way. The vast majority of potential treatments fail either in the lab or in early phase trials. It is not very likely that’d you’d be able to on-demand develop a novel treatment for symptoms before one of your competitors figured out your already-discovered cure. That would be unless you patented the cure, but by the time you spent years developing a new symptom-only treatment and testing it through each phase, you’d have a few years at best before your exclusivity on the cure patent expires and thus your treatment becomes worthless.

Pharmas are run by the same short-sighted wall streeters as every other corporation. Actually successfully executing this sort of long-term plan would require thinking further ahead than a few quarters, which they are not capable of doing. A new cure is a big stock boost now that they could never resist.

Check out their controversies section on Wikipedia. This doesn’t seem out of character for this publication. It’s more likely incompetence than malice.

As someone who’s consumed every album and special George Carlin produced, it felt like someone retelling their memory of some of his bits. Like regurgitation. It’d be impressive if your nephew performed this at his thirteenth birthday party after becoming obsessed with Carlin.

Took long enough. Now let’s see if they can give an option to turn off Lotus 1-2-3 compatibility stuff like single quotes starting a cell being hidden as markup.

The government did not for Pfizer. That was Moderns. Pfizer did spend billions of their own cash. This move is largely because the executive leadership way overestimated the amount of covid vaccine and drug treatment revenue for this year, and they are desperate to make up ground.

So they are raising prices and cutting across the board rather than admitting they didn’t know what they were doing in their projections. CEO isn’t taking a pay cut though. Morons got a winning lottery ticket in the pandemic and assumed they’d keep winning every year.

Read the details first though and compare to what else you can find out. Some companies are sneakily reducing severance package standards just for remote employees. It may be better to just aggressively job hunt while still getting a full paycheck as long as possible.

At a lot of orgs, I think executive leadership are basically buying the service of assigning blame to the consulting firm if things go wrong. If that happens, they can tell the board they took the advice of one of the big consulting firms everyone has heard of. The consulting firm got paid and will still get business, so I doubt they care. Though they are certainly also farming out critical thinking at the same time.

I think it depends on your industry and specialty. In my line of work my coworkers are all over the world and can’t really be centralized. There may be clusters in different regions, but it’s hard to justify (in my opinion) coming into the office to see two colleagues you may not even need to talk to that week. It is especially more difficult when meetings are regularly outside of normal work hours.

My company is still trying to force people back in where there are clusters, but I feel like they’re spending more on bullshit events to make it seem like it’s worth it than they could possibly gain in productivity. It really feels like a bunch of people trying to justify their jobs than anything else.

She’s discovered an efficiency. I’m sure she’ll eventually figure out how to get the dog to also lie in sun spots.
