There’s some good info out there from the good people that know how things should work that created the reuse tool - https://reuse.software/ - and basically the conclusion is that nobody should be updating the years on the copyright line just because it’s a new year. The only useful info and what should be done is put the year when the file is created and that’s it.
Edit: took me a while to find the proper thing I wanted to link - https://matija.suklje.name/how-and-why-to-properly-write-copyright-statements-in-your-code
Had to go first to the recent curl blog where the author wants to go the weird way of not having useful info at all on the files.
That would make sense if the companies laying off people were at all related to those kinds of markets that depend on the traffic you describe for survival. Most people that I know including me were layed off from companies that sell B2B stuff or solid things that are always on need independent of those factors. The common excuse used is that everyone was hiring a lot to catch the good talent that others were firing.
What I see is just all businesses using an excuse of “oh everyone is doing it, let’s do it too” independent of if it’s really necessary or not.
Thanks. That helps a lot. I never knew that iMessages was integrated with sms, just thought it existed as a internet protocol like many other proprietary ones.
Basically it’s all the same usual problem of using a closed proprietary chat protocol that a single stake holder has the power to change however and whenever they want.
Like whatsap, facebook and others which any alternative has to keep catching up to the changes that the companies do and which is very hard to maintain the reverse engineered protocols.
It never crossed my mind that I don’t usually see alternative clients for imessage, but makes sense, didn’t think it would be so hard to do.
So these guys came up with a implementation that works and apple just wants to crush them to destroy any alternatives. Business as usual.
It’s hard to understand these news when all the lingo used implies you already know the thing being talked about. An article talking about “Blue bubbles” makes no sense whatsoever to anyone not used to apple ecosystem.
Yeah, I haven’t met a single person that that has owned nor have never seen anyone buy bluerays in all the years that it has been available.
It really got a weird timeframe, when internet started to become fast and readily available everywhere, streaming services starting to exist, computers getting smaller and without optical drives… In the last 15 years or more I haven’t owned a computer with a reading optical drive.
People I know with playstations only use it to play mostly and the games are usually digital buys.
Imagine painting the rise of gambling as a good thing. In a country where most people are desperate to survive and can barely pay rent or eat. It just shows how desperate the public are to go gamble the little they have.
