I’m ok with all of that. It furthers my goal of hitting the platform back in response to their predatory marketing practices and de facto monopoly. Also, I do support creators outside of youtube. In short, I don’t feel bad about any of this.

It is morally correct to adblock youtube.

E: I can’t hear any of these counterpoints over the sweet ad-free youtube I’m getting for free.

The latest bad news for the Doc comes a week after an allegation was first made by a former Twitch employee on X. “He got banned because got caught sexting a minor in the then existing Twitch whispers product,” the tweet said.

Yeah so I get banning him but did anyone over at twitch also think to… I don’t know… contact the FBI? Seems like that should have been the first thing to do, no?

Very little most likely. I was reading some of what the sponsorblock dev had to say about this and the tone seemed to be “meh, there will be a way around this”.

Damn I didn’t realize there were people who still didn’t know the infamous pony story. Yes, Elon is a weirdo, and like many a rich asshole, believes he can coerce, purchase, or is otherwise entitled to, consent from random women.

I was briefly able to get to https://archive.org/donate - I’m going to kick them a few bucks and recommend anyone else who can afford to also do so.

I say we go full Streisand effect on whatever dickhead is trying to censor them.

With it being local it’s probably a small and limited model. I took a couple courses on machine learning years ago (before it got rebranded as “AI”), and you’d be surprised at how well a basic image recognition model can run on the lowest-spec macbook from 2012.

We’re looking at how we can use local, on-device AI models – i.e., more private – to enhance your browsing experience further. One feature we’re starting with next quarter is AI-generated alt-text for images inserted into PDFs, which makes it more accessible to visually impaired users and people with learning disabilities. The alt text is then processed on your device and saved locally instead of cloud services, ensuring that enhancements like these are done with your privacy in mind.

IMO if everything’s going to have AI ham fisted into it, this is probably the least shitty way to do so. With Firefox being open source, the code can also be audited to ensure they’re actually keeping their word about it being local-only.

I’m pretty sure I’ve seen this guy being a total shithead on Twitter before. One sec…

Edit: yep, catturd2 is a MAGA cultist - https://lemmy.world/comment/6563244

Edit 2: I took one for the team and checked bluesky catturd2’s profile on Twitter and it looks pretty anti-MAGA; there’s a couple tweets that address: cops hiding their badge numbers (bluesky catturd2 is against this), Twitter being a conservative cesspool, and generally talking shit about the trump family. I wonder if bluesky catturd2 intentionally co-opted the name to troll Twitter catturd2.

Joined by conspiracy theorist David Icke, who believes that the world’s top leaders are actually lizards, Jones and his guest both questioned whether they were actually talking to Musk based on the individual’s eerily similar speech.

There’s… there’s a lot to unpack here. I’m truly saddened that this version of me ended up in the bizarre timeline; I wonder how my other selves are doing.

He really is. He’s one of those rare instructors that can take the very complex and intricate topics and break them down into something that you can digest as a student, while still giving you room to learn and experiment yourself. In essence, an actual master at his craft.

I also agree with the comment that he doesn’t come across as the corporate shill type, much more like a guy that just really loves ML/AI and wants to spread that knowledge.
