AI “art” removes the hurdle for the wealthy of actually having talent to produce “art”, while simultaneously removing the artist’s ability to produce wealth from their talents.

Everytime someone shares an AI generated video, song, picture, etc., I cringe a little. Its just not good, or at best, anything that couldn’t be produced by a reasonably capable artist, but hey at least its free, right?

Canadian here. No, you fucking dont. We basically have 2 major players (Loblaws and Sobeys), and they were caught red-handed fixing the price of bread a few years ago, and faced next to no punishment for it.

People need to be more media litterate and more skeptical of news stories instead of taking them at face value, regardless of Deepfakery. So many articles that pass as “news” are filled with opinion and adjectives designed to ellicit an emotional response.

People need to learn to look at a piece of information and ask questions.

  • Who wants me to be reading this?
  • What emotions (if any) is this trying to ellicit?
  • What objective information can be taken from this story?
  • What are the sources for that objective information? Are they reliable?

Etc. Etc. Etc.

Even a Fox News article can have some insight into the goings on if you can parse the information from the spin. Deepfakes are just going to be another level of spin, but if people are informed enough, they’ll be able to logically differentiate between a real news story and a damning fake video.

However, that doesnt solve the age old problem of willfully ignorant people and the confirmation bias…

I always thought that tides were a really underutilized source of energy.

I mean, look at the Bay of Fundy. The equivalent of all the water in all the rivers in the entire world cycles in and out every single day. Thats a lot of movement and a ton of potential energy there.

Because media litteracy and critical thinking are not subjects taught being taught in schools.

Inquisitive and skeptical minds do not make for good worker drones.

“Creators of a broken system upset that people have found a way to actually profit from said system”.

HP is the fucking worst. My ink levels are clearly, at most, 2/3 empty, but then it will just stop printing. Like, the printer’s own sensors can see thay there is still ink left, but prints out faded, unuseable pages. Its infuriating.

Fuck me for trying to be optimistic, right?

Of course business will try to exploit this to try and squeeze a little more labour from their workers, but what good is it in constantly being negative about developments like this?

I imagine that you would have complained about Henry Ford’s crazy “40 hour work week” as a cynical ploy to drive up auto sales.

This is awesome. Just think of how much this will improve the quality of life if we can reduce the strain of repetitive stress injuries so people can spend more time enjoying their off time rather than just simply recovering from the wear and tear of their day job.

Imagine doing over a decade of schooling and training, spending thousands of dollars to become a platic surgeon, making really, really good money and generally be respected by most people.

Imagine that not being enough and you throw it all away in an attempt at being a fucking tiktok star.
