it seemed like a really weird decision for OpenAI to have an AI classifier in the first place. their whole business is to generate output that’s good enough that it can’t be distinguished from what a human might produce, and then they went and made a tool to try and point out where they failed.

nothing about using a USB-C cable inherently means it has to support USB3.

framing it as “limits it to USB 3 Speeds” is misleading. iPhone has only ever supported USB 2, all they’re doing here is continuing to not upgrade to USB 3. the meeting where somebody proposed it went like this:

hey, should we put a USB 3 chip in the new iPhone?
nah, let’s just keep using the same one as the last generation

the government’s argument in implementing the link tax was that facebook doesn’t provide any value, they just take news for free and make a profit off it.

so facebook stopped linking to news. and now they’re complaining because facebook isn’t providing the valuable service that they used to. so does facebook provide value by linking to news, or not?

i’m not saying “don’t put money into savings”, i’m saying every now and then, people should make a decision that benefits the world as a whole rather than just their personal financial situation.

boomers didn’t sacrifice their own spending to build their net worth, they sacrificed *public* spending to do it. and not just public spending, but things that are literally free. like, deciding nobody should ever be allowed to build more housing anywhere ever, because that makes their real estate investment go up.

alternate phrasing: boomers stuffed all their money in their bank accounts instead of building a world their kids could afford to live in.

LED bulbs aren’t really even a small thing.

going from a 100W bulb to a 15W bulb, or a 60W bulb to a 2.5W bulb (that’s the actual conversion for the bulbs i’ve actually bought on amazon and am currently using, not hypothetical guesses) across 20-30 bulbs in a single house is a real actual big difference in energy savings.

he offered to buy twitter for a joke, and he actually did buy twitter because a court forced him to. not because this was some grand plan to accomplish anything - he literally spent months in court arguing that he shouldn’t have to buy twitter, and he lost. that’s the only reason he owns twitter now.
