I get what you are saying, just pushed an update to Apple with the new compact mode. Android soon.

Since both left and right swipes(to go back and forward) work already it will be messy to implement that.

It is by default sorted by “best” which takes some time to show new posts.

Yes that’s the web app. You can install from play store now, it has many new features.

I will fix it in the next update. Are you on the latest version?

There are multiple light and dark themes already available in Settings > Appearance. Will add a full theme customiser as a vanity feature somewhere in the future.

Try tapping around the import button(like 1-2cm up/down where the import button is). Are you able to hit the cancel button?

I am happy to answer them.

Why post on lemmy when you can post it on Reddit? Increased visibility?

Because a lot of contributors and users when the web app launched a year ago were from Lemmy only. A lot of lemmy users use rdx on iOS or web app to lurk on the niche subs that haven’t made it to lemmy yet. Also when I launched the iOS version so many of the users here asked me to let them know when I launch an Android version. I have linked one such thread in the first line of my post.

Why use this instead of RedReader?

  1. RedReader afaik was only available only Android while rdx is available everywhere(it’s a pwa too).
  2. Better Media viewing, although not as accessible as RedReader I made it initially to mimic some Apollo features like fast subreddit switching etc.
  3. Read-Only so focuses on lurking on Reddit only, no way to login. Some people consider this a feature as this saves them time.

Hey Reddit lurkers! my ad-free, open source Reddit viewer RDX is on Android now
Since [a lot of you asked me](https://lemmy.world/comment/10702791) to build an Android version and post about it here when I launch, and I sincerely apologise that I forgot to post on lemmy sooner. The free app was launched on Play store almost a month ago and has garnered some excellent reviews. It has feature parity with the [iPhone App](https://apps.apple.com/us/app/rdx-for-reddit/id6503479190) and works on all Android 8.0+ devices. You can [download the app here](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.overdevs.rdx). ![](https://lemmy.world/pictrs/image/ae0c54a4-30db-46e4-96a3-646c9af57922.png) Any feedback is wholeheartedly welcome, you can also post issues and contribute to the rdx web app on [Github](https://github.com/avadhesh18/rdx).

Oh you noticed the Alien Blue reference, there is an Antenna reference too :) Thing is apple doesn’t allow everyone to open apps from safari matching a url like Android, you have to manually verify the app on your domain. I will provide a bookmarklet that you can tap and open the url in rdx. I can do the multireddit thing, maybe in next update.

It was by design a GIF downloader(gifs don’t have sound) but works with videos also. Next update I will update it to include the audio too.

No.

Go to the subreddit, press the three bars icon on top right. Click subscribe.

On iPhone - Click on the photo, it will open an image viewer with share option on top, tap that, save photo, If you are using iPad then I will add the feature in next update. To save the GIFs on both iPhone and iPad tap the save icon below every video/gif post (it is just before the safari icon)

Posting the update here because most of the users of RDX come from Lemmy community only. **Why?** A lot of users asked for a more polished viewer with more features and users in the EU now can not add web apps to home screen, so I spent some time building an iOS app. You can also save images and videos/gifs from Reddit now. It's stil completely free (with an optional donate option available), the web app also works. You can [download the app here](https://apps.apple.com/us/app/rdx-for-reddit/id6503479190?platform=iphone) ![](https://lemmy.world/pictrs/image/8132de99-e940-47ab-9093-98c1f9ddd7bb.png) Previous posts for context: https://lemmy.world/post/10428140 [My reddit web viewer still works! Sorry RDX for Reddit’s EU users, you won’t be able to add RDX web app (or any other PWA) to your home screen in the latest iOS update
Apple is removing PWA(progressive web apps) from EU Which means: 1. Your subscribed subs will be removed if you don't use the app in the last 7 days - https://stackoverflow.com/a/76792560 2. Your saved posts will be removed in the same way, and all other settings if you don't consistently use the website. 3. You won't get the options I have added like a fixed header for standalone version. So any PWA website that you currently use won't be able to store anything in your localstorage for more than 7 days after you visiting that website. Reason: [Apple confirms: It's killing home screen web apps in the EU](https://mashable.com/article/apple-kills-home-screen-web-apps-pwas-in-eu-dma)

Haha!

looking for a way to better format for desktop What are you looking for? more content on the desktop. The width of the content is fixed to 500 now because that’s good enough to read on larger monitors. Thinking of making it 700px. Any other suggestions?

Infinite scroll would be a nice optional too

For now, you can go to the settings page and change the number of posts displayed per page.

Firefox has enhanced privacy protection that block loading of the single reddit json file.

NSFW is enabled by default, just go to any nsfw sub you know for and click allow this content.

Just scroll to the end of the first page? The link is there just below the Buy Me A Coffee banner.

You can add it to your homescreen and then the navigation bar stays fixed so it’s easier to navigate that way. Also it uses localstorage to save your settings/subs etc and ios clears the localstorage after 7 days of the last visit to any website. Adding to homescreen prevents that too, on Android localstorage is saved permanently.

For those who lurk on Reddit - my read-only, ad-free, open source Reddit viewer RDX is better than ever now
I am posting the updates here because most of the users of RDX came from this community only. Multiple updates have been made to https://rdx.overdevs.com since I last posted here including: 1. Importing subscriptions from Reddit 2. Saving posts for later 3. Share button 4. hls/dash videos 5. better search Previous posts: [My reddit web viewer still works! My reddit web viewer still works! Story: When reddit killed 3rd party apps, I uploaded a web viewer I have been using for myself to Github pages for everyone to use…
I posted about that here and forgot < https://lemmy.world/post/896361> but today when I checked cloudflare analytics it showed about 1000 pageviews in last 24 hours. Looks like some people are using it so just wanted to let you guys know that it works, no ads. no popups nothing.

If you want to lurk on Reddit, you can use this web reader I built for myself when I got inspired by the Apollo app years ago
You can't login or anything but it's good for viewing posts and media and you can switch subreddits easily by clicking on the page title in the center like Apollo. Also it's on Github.
