The absolute lack of any kind of consistency with layout or alignment makes me cringe too.

It’s just shows how they’re just glued onto the page with no care or planning. Especially no consideration to the user or user experience.

It’s not for you as a consumer.

It’s to reduce your usefulness as a worker.

Which would be lovely, if our value wasn’t calculated by our usefulness to the market.

Management get to say they’re doing big fun events for morale etc, but the employees can’t make it look like they did a bad job of it (i.e. did not make the party entertaining).

I like to call pair-programming sessions (for bugs) “bebuggery sessions” at work and people haven’t complained yet.

I always liked how GOD had a blue checkmark.

Like, “over here is confirmed to be the real Barack Obama, and over here is confirmed to be actual God”

And for a reasonable price, the AI corporations will sell you the chance to survive in the world they created for you.

Yeah this is scary and honestly why I’m super careful what I put online. Well, mostly.

There are professional social media checkers who will find your hidden/locked social media (and Reddit etc).

They get hired by recruitment agencies or companies who are hiring.

And on the surface it could be to check no one is a secret nazi/chauvanist etc

But I bet there’s secondary data about political leanings or how “appropriate” your friends are.

Or if you’re willing to be a part of the old boy’s club (coke and strippers is fine for execs, but you can’t have a nephew who is in a labor union etc).
