Devices running an unsupported version of Windows will still function, but Microsoft doesn’t provide the following: Technical support of any issue

Oh, you mean the support forums? I don’t think those have ever helped anyone

I wonder how much Arch-derivative distros like Manjaro or EndeavourOS will benefit from this, aside from Proton improvements.

Do people still trust ASUS enough to give them over a grand for a mainboard? I know I don’t.

You can’t tell me that’s not part of the business model…

as well as a fee of €95 ($105) for 24 months of access

Ah, there it is. The death subscription.

I personally prefer the Pixel 9’s pink; it’s a bit more vibrant, at least on the pictures.

Still no cool colours for the Pro models, though (apart from the Pixel 9 Pro’s light pink)

It’s nice that Apple for once introduced a nice feature for others to copy, the camera button. I loved those on my Lumia and Xperia phones.

Everything else is just meh… the normal 16 comes in some cool colours at least

I guess locking basic features behind a paywall didn’t work for them after all, eh?

7900 XTX; more powerful, therefore better.

7900 XT; cheaper, therefore better.

We’d first have to undo all the damage we did to the rest of the Earth which, even if we wanted, we couldn’t do.

As far as I understand, the whole “de-extinction” thing is just a huge flex on our part.

I just feel like we at least can, in theory, keep the shit we do on/to earth under control.

Space is a different world entirely and not only do we not know what effects our shitty pollution projects have out there, we don’t even really care about it as far as I can tell.

Can we just for a minute stop fucking around in space? It’s getting annoying

Can you really guarantee that? I mean, it’s pretty much dependent on individual usage.

AFAIK, the EU defines “user replaceable” as literally that; you open a hatch, pull the battery out and stick a new one in.

In two years time Apple, and every other smartphone manufacturer on the EU market for that matter, will be forced to make the battery user replaceable and that one will most likely benefit everyone; unless Apple wants to release two versions of every iPhone to comply with EU regulations which they won’t.

As long as they don’t completely nix the support à la Spotify Car Thing I’m fine with it

Who here uses the vendor supplied software with their mouse?

In my experience it’s almost entirely useless, except for remapping buttons maybe.

Probably Fallout New Vegas (if that even counts as retro yet). I’ve played it to death ever since it came out and can’t even remember the first time I completed it.

ThinkPads once were pretty easy to work on and repair, but then the whole soldering stuff to the system board and removing power bridge batteries happened.

If you look at something like a T430, it has access doors for everything on the bottom in addition to being built like a tank.

Never even heard of this. Basically every school over here (that I know of) uses ViewSonic Smart Boards that run Android, too, although with a nightmare of a launcher on top… They’re probably not even that much cheaper

They should really stop over saturating the market by releasing new models every year with little to no meaningful upgrades.

Even mid-range phones nowadays are good enough to last long after they stop receiving updates, it therefore makes little financial sense (for the average consumer) to buy the newest model every year, not even touching on the environmental impact.

“lower tier pricing for premium members” sounds more like they’ll introduce another, cheaper Blue-like subscription rather than a mandatory fee

Twitter ad sales have plunged 50% since he bought the company

Can’t imagine why… Nope

Don’t worry! I’ve read on the internet that an ice age is coming in a couple of years /s

Eh. I mean, are there any great innovations left when it comes to smartphones? They kinda all just look and do the same nowadays.

They sure made USB3 look like a breakthrough innovation, though…

That would be unfortunate, I always saw the SE as not only the cheapest but also the smallest model but I guess it’s really just a way for them to use up old parts?

It’s probably not gonna happen but maybe they’ll fill that gap with the next iPhone SE

I’m surprised they didn’t mention it during their totally not cringeworthy meeting with mother nature

I’d be almost ready to say that we don’t need them any more if Bluetooth headphones were about 100x better and cheaper

I still don’t understand why car brands don’t just use Android Automotive anyway. Most native infotainment systems in cars still look and feel like they’re from the early 2000s.

That 55-inch interface they’re showing off really looks like some weird 2006-ish concept.

Edit: Apparently, it’s running “Google built-in” which means that this particular system is based on Android Automotive OS and it’s just running some proprietary launcher on top.

I think most people saw that coming, Microsoft effectively sealed Cortana’s fate when they relegated it to a standalone app
