I don’t think sms will go away, that ping is fundamental to GSM & LTE so far as I can tell.

You may need an app that explicitly taps into the sms feature though

Yeah… You’re probably right. They’re still quite popular in foreign countries due to mechanical simplicity/robustness. In fact I’ve noted car rentals that are automatic tend to be a bit more expensive then manuals, which the locals use.

Regardless, do your thing and have fun.


I really like C because I can just get to the heart of an action and make it happen without much surrounding code.

I could make classes and blah blah blah if I want to make a large, complex program but I’d rather write several small, simple to grok programs which pass information around so each program can do its one simple thing, quickly and easily. Chain the small programs together with bash or something, and bingo, you’ve got a modular high speed system.

I’m not a programmer, actually a mechanical engineer. But the Unix philosophy of simple, modular tools is great, provided one properly checks and sanitizes inputs.


I’ve got a motorcycle, but really enjoy my bicycle. Had a car for a few years way back in college, but after insurance and your first set of tires, you quickly realize cars kinda suck.

Then Uber and Lyft came out, I use them for getting to airports, but otherwise loving the bicycle life, even here in south LA.

Well… Imagine s/he terminated the end of the spool, and basically had the other end hooked up to the bot? Depending on the distance, gently twisting the cable going from a PC to the spool could be fine, avoiding the need for slip-rings, etc.

Laying down more material to speed prints as well as increase strength.


Hey everyone. I built an mk3s+ from its kit form successfully, tested a few PLA prints with the stock 0.4 nozzle. I've set prusaslicer to use a 0.6 nozzle now that I've upgraded, and am using PETG. Prints look pretty bad, in spite of calibrating z-offset etc. If you were doing something like this for the first time, what would your setup steps be like? To be specific, using a diamondback 0.6 nozzle, matterhackers PETG at 235c. Issues I'm seeing are a really bad loss of detail, lots of stringing, etc. *eta*: added a photo of a moderately post-processed part. Notice how rough the top surface looks, there's a disconnect between perimeter loops, etc.
