It will never be $30,000 or less. He did the same thing with the Model 3.

You really just can’t believe anything this guy says regarding his products.

General buying advice: 70” is a size used by manufacturers on budget units that use panels from prior years.

Go with 65” or 75”. Now, to find a balance of size and performance, 65” might be the better option.

All of this convinced me to give up on moving all my accounts to their service and just use the iCloud service I already pay for. Trying to get away from GMail and Google’s privacy policies, but it felt like these moves indicated greater change coming to a service I was sincerely optimistic about prior.

I’m surprised more brands aren’t simply defaulting to Threads. You still see links to their Xitter profile instead of Threads.

I prefer Mastodon, myself, but I get why major brands would prefer a centralized network.

I mean is this stuff even really AI? It has no awareness of what it’s saying. It’s simply calculating the most probable next word in a typical sentence and spewing it out. I’m not sure this is the tech that will decide humanity is unnecessary.

It’s just rebranded machine learning, IMO.

We called this the “swoop and poop” in a previous job of mine. Definitely not something encouraged or enjoyed.

Everyone’s experience and usage is different, but I have a base M2 MacBook Air with 8gb of RAM and besides web browsing, streaming/air playing some videos, and typing some documents, I don’t do much else. I never feel the need for more RAM.

You can also use it to start a load while you’re at work when you didn’t want your clothes sitting after washing all day. True, there’s old school delay functions but this gives a little more control.

Not saying it’s worth it, but a feature I haven’t seen anyone else mention.

The irony of their efforts is that it only proved to show that they could easily begin influencing users which is the key argument being used against them.

I’m still not sure what my feelings on the subject are. I don’t use the app myself, but besides its connection to a company in China and, therefore, the Chinese government, it seems to do the same exact tracking and algorithm manipulating that every other social network does.

That is an absurdly large QR code. I recently switched to MacOS (I know Linux exists and it’s not for me) so I’m glad I’m away from this kind of nonsense.

They exist in some form or another. None of them free.

I’m unfortunately in this world. Every application involves me scanning the job description and then trying to take key words and change up my skills section to try to match enough to catch the eye of an algorithm.

This is such a dumb theory that I absolutely love it.

The people who made this entire project happen are straight geniuses. I’m in constant awe that any of it works.

Man, first time I went through the top posts, I was in tears.

It feels like the fediverse can be the true Web 3.0.

Man, a guy I know who has worked for and evangelized VMWare for years and he’s been oddly quiet on Mastodon today. Guess it’s time to reach out.

Update: His job is safe.

Recently booked some flights with United. Chose Economy (not Basic). Tried to book row 30 or something around there but they wanted an extra $140 per seat. Said fuck it and booked row 58. Two weeks later got an email letting me know my seats were changed to row 30 at no charge.

What a scam.

To start, I don’t think it’ll be a “subscribe or else” type deal. My assumption would be something like a forced S mode unless you subscribe.

Second, people won’t jump right away. To start, word will get around and they’ll simply not update. Then, when it comes time to buy a new computer, the average user will be possibly swayed to look at entry level MB Airs (They often go on sale for like $750) or Chromebooks.

The people who will get really pissed will be power users and gamers who will be forced to shell out money to get back features they had in previous versions of the OS.

For the average consumer, this would help Apple and Google out more than anything. People want what they know.

On the more savvy user side and for gamers, this move would, potentially, help Linux adoption rates.

It is. The organization doesn’t control which instances federate or defederate from others.

Are you just on here to low key spam your own instance/site?

The headline is sensationalist since it implies they were going to get a free phone and Google bailed at the last minute.

We need to go back to having buybacks be illegal. It’s money that SHOULD be spent on innovation, R&D, and more importantly, people.

Parents take pictures of their kids thanks to new technology that makes pictures nearly free to take. Parents use limitless access to information to help make smart decisions while raising children. No shit.

Wtf kind of “news” article and anger baiting headline is this?

I know the Fediverse loves a good “Twitter is going down” circle jerk, but at some point, we need to move on. Lemmy and Mastodon are great for me and we should be evangelizing and sharing content with others from these platforms.

This dope and the orange dope just do and say outrageous things so they stay top of mind. Don’t give them that and you take away their super power.

Yikes the performance hit is scary but if you’re running a server, what option do you have?

He’ll never actually do it. He simply wants to encourage more people to say outrageous things so engagement levels increase as everyone does dumb shit.

Good luck to anyone who falls for this.

It was to be expected, but I found Lemmy because of everything that happened, uninstalled Reddit, and now use Mastodon and Lemmy as my social media platforms of choice, so it’s a personal win.

Hopefully, as Lemmy continues to thrive, instances hold up to the pressure of growth and we see an influx of content that made Reddit so valuable to users and Reddit corporate alike.

It’s amazing that we can even communicate with something so far away. Science is ridiculously awesome regardless of how much a certain wing of the political spectrum would have you think otherwise.
