Sycamore Grave
Lemmy: Man fuck housing developers!
Also Lemmy: Man I cant find a house!
Edit: Yes affordability is the problem, but if demand keeps outrunning supply the situation will NEVER improve. The only way landlords will start to bring their prices down is when the tenant is the one with options.
To be fair, it would be more effective to build a handful of mid-rises rather than clear-cutting space for a new exurb

If we dont build more demand will just keep outstripping supply more and more.

So they are building these for the fun of it?
The more houses built the better supply gets, the better supply gets the more prices will drop. Every one of these thats built and someone in the inner city scrapes together the cash to buy in suburbia frees up an apartment.

Thats a seperate part of the same problem. They already have private buyers beat on buying power, less supply doesnt hurt them at all.

They’re also frequently named for the animals displaced… like Fox Acres, Hawk Ridge, Deer Field etc etc ad nauseum
“You space bastard! You killed my pine!”
They’re named after that which they destroy.
Oak Grove. Fox Run. Smurf Village.
I’ve always thought a sci fi/fantasy themed one would be neat. I’d name it “The Shire at Kessel Run” and it would have streets like Enterprise Way and Baggins Court. Who wouldn’t love to live at 42 Chewbacca Drive?
And now Papa Smurf wants to see a revolution get organized against this on the grounds of them clear cutting oak trees, culling poor vulpines to near extinction, and leaving small woodland villages consisting of mushroom style housing.

Well it was a sycamore grove…
Looks more like mulberry.
