My electric skateboard still blows my mind. It’s crazy how well it works as compared to gasoline skateboards.

Apparently a hot take, but I don’t have an issue with this, as long as they’re picture ads, not videos. An option to hide them temporarily would be good if you’re trying to read something. Maybe you’d need to hold a key or something. To me this is much less intrusive than 3 videos ads at the beginning of a video.

All of that said, I pay for premium, as I watch enough YouTube for it to be very very justified. I’ve probably saved weeks of my time not watching ads, plus it supports creators more than the ads ever do.

And there really is no reason other than that. I assumed there was meaning behind it. There is not.

There was an story a while back where it was discovered that Tesla focuses their efforts on the routes taken by creators (and other influencial people), to intentionally make self driving look better than it is.

What about the day you have to go around a corner? Or the track day?

It’s easy though, just pay an extra 36 bucks per year, bringing your total prime sub cost to 176 bucks per year, very reasonable!

Yes, same as the normal YouTube app. It is nice that Grayjay allows 2160p downloads though.

I think it also supports third party download tools, if you don’t pay for premium.

I’m still using re-vanced, as last time I used Grayjay there were still some missing features as compared to revanced, a complete lack of a webapp, and lack of multiple video services I use. Between all of those things, I just didn’t find it worth sticking with it.

However, I did pay the 10 bucks and do come back to visit it occasionally.

If I had a dollar for every time Comcast told me to check if I qualify for this rebate, even after I tell them that I do not qualify, my internet cost would make sense.

According to the example, it just shoves your video to the side and shows a static ad, not a video. If it played a video with audio that would be fucked. If it’s just silent stuff, honestly not even that intrusive or crazy imo. Smart TV boxes have been doing similar shit for a while, right?

Also, at least with YouTube you can pay to avoid it, if you’d like.

I’ll have to do some research… Wild that I wasn’t able to find them previously.

I can’t replace the wall switches, as I’m renting a manufactured home, which has some really wackily wired light switches, likely to save money. If I owned a home I’d definitely install some smart switches and utilize those.

Holy crap, I’ll be purchasing that ASAP, guess I just wasn’t able to find them, thank you!

And yes, I was aware that simply wiring the device directly into the wall wouldn’t work.

No. The lack of variety in options is honestly astonishing. I’m looking for a cheap zigbee button that is wall powered. They don’t really seem to exist. Who the fuck wants to be constantly replacing batteries in smart things? Probably the same people who don’t want wires running everywhere, but their priorities are in the wrong place imo.

I’m also kinda shocked that a product doesn’t exist that’s just a AA or AAA fake battery with wires hanging off of it that you could plug into the wall. Probably a safety hazard or something.

Yeah, I switch browsers like I change my clothes, and Firefox has been awesome compared to Brave, Edge, and other chromium browsers.

I don’t need to. Is there a way to charge EVs there? Then EVs will likely be charged there. Is there not a way to charge EVs there? Then EVs probably won’t be charged there.

limp those bitches along

I hope you don’t have to limp them along. My newest vehicle is from 2007, and my oldest from '84. They aren’t limping, they run and drive quite well.

My parents had it. Average was about 40mbps over a 60gb download, minimums were in the low 20s, and it topped out at around 80-100mbps. A fuck of a lot better than 10mbps down 750kbps up, their only other option. I hate Elon as much as the next guy, but starlink is awesome.

As an android user, I treat it as an early red flag, if someone treats it as a status symbol.

I’d agree that I see way too much Elon stuff on my lemmy feed. This one I’m more interested in than 99% of the others. Maybe it’s just cause I’m a gear head, but I’ll sure as heck take it over the 10 X (formerly known as Twitter) “news” articles that I scrolled past to get here. News in quotes because it is no longer news that X (more commonly known as Twitter) and its owner are dumb.

Are you sure it’s YouTube doing that and not just bot accounts? It seems like you’re jumping to the conspiracy conclusion.

I needed something with a lot of surface area so my drink didn’t spill on my bed, and hey, it works.

Yeah, that’s what I did. Seems to be working.

I'm at a friend's house for the night and was invited to an among us group. Installed among us and discord, had everything working (after a restart) within 10 minutes. I was shocked that simply adding a keybind for mute/deafen just worked. Yet another "it's just a computer" moment. I'll have to get that discord overlay thing working at some point. In addition, the mic seems to work pretty well without using headphones, though I can't hear myself obviously. I wasn't considering upgrading to the OLED because I didn't use the device enough, but man, I might...

Multiple millions, aka millions?

If we’re being extra pedantic I’d say it was at least 4 million.
