I’ve used it for a bit, and it’s really really nice. I just don’t know if I trust it to keep up with security updates, especially something so sensitive as a web browser.
This is good news! Ever since I found or about nomadic identities I’ve wondered why they weren’t a thing from the beginning in the Fediverse. It just makes t so much sense in a federated environment.
The EU does not have jurisdiction outside the EU, so they can’t force it. That said, the EU is a large enough market that it would force manufacturers to also make these modifications outside the EU.
I think that what @agilob@lemmy.world is saying, is that now that companies will no longer have the option of planned obsolescence via a shitty battery, companies will pivot into sunsetting software technologies faster, so users can keep replacing their devices at the same pace they do today.
