Cashew nuts are the best nut
Seiko are great watches. I have a couple of G-Shock watches and a Garmin heart rate monitor watch. The Garmin is kinda like a smart watch but more practical. It’s got all the sports stuff you’d ever need but GPS too. It makes for an excellent daily-driver watch.
I find HRM watches to be very handy. I can tell from checking my heart rate whether I need to slow down my running speed. I can tell if I start running for something how long I’ll last by checking my heart rate. If it’s in the “anabolic zone” I’ll crap out in a few minutes. If it’s in the “aerobic zone” I’ll crap out when my body gives up.
It’s also been handy for monitoring my general fitness. Resting heart rate, steps, floors travelled, etc. I recommend the Garmin Fenix if you ever wanna try out a ‘Smart watch’ again: https://www.garmin.com/en-GB/p/641479
I have no evidence of who’s falling for my ‘trolling’ online but it’s very similar to what you describe. I’ll make some absurd, nonsense claim or insult them using flowery nonsense language that can’t possibly be taken seriously - but they do!
I suggested that Java devs (programmers) are the reason we’ll never have FTL engines. They took me seriously!
Yet there’s other times you’ll get obviously younger people screaming in comments under videos “FAKE!” because they can’t conceive that the video’d thing could happen.
In that instance I can understand it to a degree because they don’t have the lived years experience to compare what they’re seeing on screen. You’ll get them claiming “that would never happen” or “people don’t do that and if you think it’s real go touch grass” and I’m thinking - “hang on that’s happened to me at least 3 times”.
I understand it’s probably just the arrogance of youth but it’s quite shocking at times just how confident they can be of their own ignorance.
The patent was filed in 1999 but wasn’t granted until late-2000s. I dunno what US patent law states but I would have thought it’s back dated to when it was applied.
But I think this all part of the battle because the US patent office has refused to release internal emails that could shed light on all this.
Something fishy is going on and he’s already won some cases.
You wanna know who’s to blame?
You’ll never guess…
Steve Jobs. One of founders, Larry or Sergey, was given a piece of advice that they found so ‘incredible’ that they mentioned it during an interview and a book.
‘Don’t be afraid to trim the fat and kill products’. About 6 months after I read about that Google’s products started dying like flies. They’ve kept the same pathological drive to murder products for over a decade since and it’s fucking infuriating.
Wooooah ok let me start by addressing your point RE: Macbooks. You may not know about them but if you do then you realise Apple’s tech and entire business is questionable. I suggest you read more…
I’m talking about old Louis Roassman, not modern-day ‘consumer champion’ Louis. The guy ran a Youtube channel in the 2010s where he just fixed Macbooks in his shop. It was his day job as the owner of a laptop repair shop. He’s a laptop repair guy by trade so I listen to him when it comes to laptop build quality.
I found him after my unibody Macbook Pro fell apart in 2011. It was the first model that came out in 08/09. He was very straight forward (no agenda) and showed how shitty the design & build of the Macbook was. Those issues still exist today!:
On my Macbook:
The two aboive combined so I basically had a panel, lid and frame all separated and snapped. It was fucking MESS. But Louis showed this was a common problem and I was shit out of luck.
NB: Not to mention the 3-4 hardware issues that cropped up during my ownership in just 3 years due to fucked up graphics chips and other hardware fuckups due to shoddy design. Apple tries REALLY fucking hard to avoid accepting hardware faults and recalls but I was plugged into all the Apple forums/communities and saw how often these things happened and every time without fail Apple would go blue in the face before accepting liability.
Remember the stupid as fuck iPhone aerial that stopped working if you were LEFT HANDED?! There was a gap in the edge of the case that if bridged with a hand would drop the signal to 0. Apples response? “Don’t use it left-handed”
So what did I do?
I swore off Apple products. I noticed Louis was a fan of Lenovo laptops so I looked at what was available. I got a P51 and it’s still going after 6 years.
Lenovo Thinkpads don’t look sexy. They aren’t ‘unibody’ aluminium. But holy shit - they’re built like fucking tanks. I can poor a litre of water over the keyboard of my P51 and it’ll still work cos it has built-in drainage holes. Do that to a Macbook - or hell try using a Macbook for more than a few years and it’ll break and fall apart.
Apple products are NOT well built. They LOOK nice, but they’re shitty engineering.
The LG Prada was the first capacitive touch-screen phone. March 2007 release compared to iPhone’s July 2007 release.
Samsung also fought a patent war with Apple when Apple sued Samsung for creating a similar phone to the iPhone in 2008. The court docs had examples of Samsung’s first touchscreen phone.
Apple are very good at marketing and had a powerful personality that people worshiped (Jobs).
Spend 5 mins watching videos by Louis Rossman fixing Macbooks and you’ll realise they are shitty products.
It pisses me off how kid-friendly everything has become online. You can’t swear at people and call them fucking idiots no matter how warranted it may be. People censor “removed” because it’s a ‘gay-slur’ but in the UK it’s a food type and a fag is a cigarette. “LatinX” and “unaliving” are things. There’s Reddit subs where people can say “nigga” without being banned because it’s assumed they’re all black. But it’s online so there’s no way of fucking knowing!!
I feel like the Internet is turning into a fucking kiddie day care centre for young adult Americans.
It’s insidious too. I didn’t realise how much I was self-censoring until I came to Lemmy and started swearing more in comments. On Reddit I’d been talking like a guy surrounded by children, afraid to swear, lest I offend someone.
At least here I feel like I can express thoughts and feelings.
Reading the article it sounded more like he was tired of dealing with people who hated on the platform - like you.
They had moderators working full time and numerous protections in place (including AI that detected nudity). They actually led to the arrest of many paedophiles and had numoerous contacts with international law enforcement and child protection agencies.
If you read the article you’d see he was more ruined by the people screeching it needs to be shut down because it was a nest of paedos. People who’d probably never fucking used the site (like you) who’d just heard rumours (like you) and had no fucking clue about the moderation and arrests that went on in the background.
Guess what - paedos will always fucking exist. If anything Omegle was a honeypot for the stupid few who thought they could use it and get away with it only to find out they couldn’t and got arrested.
Instead now paedos will go elsewhere. More underground. Harder to find. Harder to catch.
Congratulations. You’re ignorant pearl clutching is precisely what the site admin couldn’t deal with anymore and you’ve made paedos harder to catch in the act.
I hope you’re proud.
They only harvest from sustainable phone forests. 👍
