Somehow you’re using something that Google thinks it’s an adblock. Maybe it’s a cookie blocker or tracking blocker. Disable all plugins and then try YouTube.
They tried it on me last night, but all I saw was a video stopping one second in and a gray overlay. I blocked that element with the element picker, and then the video played fine in both regular and full screen mode – but I was unable to move the page or scroll down for comments. Works for me, most YT comment sections are dumpster fires anyway.
Also, I was logged in. I have not seen this at all where I was not logged in, yet.
I made a user script that will make a button on each video which jump you to piped, that way you can continue to use YT to manage your subscriptions and see your feed, but you never have to watch to video there
I found a link to a that said 11% use adblock. Thats not a lot.Maaayyyybe there is a problem with the amount of ads youtube forces down our throats for even short videos. 🤷♂️
Really? The platform you choose to use for “free” that literally funds itself with ads? NO!
I’m in the same boat here. I used to be cool watching the ads, but then they just got ridiculous. If I’m forced to watch ads, I’ll just do something else. I can reserve YouTube for only necessary viewing like DIYs that will save me money. I can skip the “entertainment” style videos which are 95% of my viewing and do literally anything else with my time lol.
Cethin is correct. This won’t automagically disable the warning. Otherwise anyone with an adblocker would just push the button.
The button sends a report to google. Then they’ll look into it. If they ever look into it, that is. So your issue may be resolved in two days, one week, six months, who knows…
Letting corporations use MY computer equipment and MY Internet connect to conduct their business. I’ll block whatever I want and if Google and YouTube don’t like it, they can take their advertising machine, roll it up real tight and cram it.
It doesn’t matter your browser or adblocker, Youtube is cracking down in ALL adblocker. Adblockers are probably going to find a way around it, it’s a cat chasing the mouse game.
You are not logged in. However you can subscribe from another Fediverse account, for example Lemmy or Mastodon. To do this, paste the following into the search field of your instance: !technology@lemmy.world
This is a most excellent place for technology news and articles.

You probably have antitracking enabled which can trigger this dumb prompt.
Ah, enshittification at its finest.
Happened to me, I just blocked the notification objects. Still let me play videos so far. I have firefox + ublock.
You blocked the blocker and that worked?? Lmao.

That’s still funding itself, you’re not liking the deal or your opinion of how much they should make doesn’t change that. That’s just reality.
Correct, and that’s their choice, OR you can pay and get rid of them, OR do like most and block them all. DNS and Sponsorblock work wonders.
“not using an adblocker? report the issue.” 🤷♀️

How long ago did you report it?

Ah got it. Well, that sucks.
Are using your phone or desktop? Regardless, try any of the Invidious instances (e.g. yewtu.be .) 100% YT content. Unfamiliar interface, but no ads.
Here’s something that I “don’t allow” Google:
Letting corporations use MY computer equipment and MY Internet connect to conduct their business. I’ll block whatever I want and if Google and YouTube don’t like it, they can take their advertising machine, roll it up real tight and cram it.
To put it another way, a shitty business model on their part does not constitute an obligation on yours.

uBlock Origin already found a way around it. Update the filter lists and it works again.
Are you using a VPN? I get messages like that with Surfshark.
We have a family premium plan and I still got this message. Guess I’ll cancel YouTube Premium now…
I get most of the content I want via patreon anyway now.
