Lemmy loses it’s mind over Elon.

“Working from home can reduce emissions by 50%” cool, we can use our cars less!

Elon “People working from home hurts our car sales cause they don’t need a car.” Fucking idiot and their stupid cars.

Not to mention the demographic working from home is the demographic buying his cars. Don’t be blinded by fanatical hatred, be specific where you direct your vitriol.

Lemmy: “All of the ways Elon mismanaged Tesla brought the quality of the cars down to the point where the brand’s reputation is sunk. That hurt sales more than people not commuting to work.”

You: “Look at all you on Lemmy saying how you don’t need to own a car any more because you’re using your car half as much!”

Downvote Musk spam.

The billionaire doesn’t need your help ensuring him and his businesses stay in the 24 hour news cycle. Don’t be a useful idiot.

Musk’s basically a troll

Yes we will all go back to the office just to boost your sales 🤡. They are really trying to push this return to office narrative.

I have a conspiracy theory that the push back to the office has banks behind it all. I think the lack of use of commercial real estate is severely devaluing it, which is partially why interest rates on residential housing is bonkers.

Seriously why is this in Technology. Please God I want to learn about supercomputers, space flight or jet powered shoes, not “Elon musk said this!” Like who cares?

It undersells it because many people are, but can’t really afford to practice it properly. His means really let him develop it.

Agreed, but it’s early in the morning and that was my first thought after reading.

Couldn’t possibly be instances like this, could it?

https://lemmy.world/post/7058416

Or the price premium for FSD that doesn’t actually work?

Or the reports of poor build quality?

Or the difficulty in getting service?

The lack of customer service?

Or maybe people don’t want to support a company run by an unstable dickhead?

I honestly would love to buy an electric car, but Musk himself is probably the number one reason I’ll never touch a Tesla. All the other stuff just reinforces why I shouldn’t buy one, but just not wanting to give any money to that dickhead is my primary reason for not going with one. Maybe all the other car company execs are dipshits too, but they at least have the sense to not talk so much.

Same, I’ve wanted a Tesla fpr over a decade. I’ve had my Volt for almost 9 years now and am starting to think about buying a new fully electric car, but Tesla is now firmly off my list and it’s entirely down to Musk’s shitty behavior.

For me, it was when reports were coming out that Tesla actually made repairs harder and didn’t allow shops to repair their vehicles without voiding the warranty.

It’s like if Apple sold a car. Proprietary shit can just get the fuck out.

Musk is why we won’t consider Tesla when we get to that point. It’s also why we won’t use starlink.

Ditto. I vetoed Starlink at home for the exact same reason.

Your last reason is the reason I sold mine. Yes they already got my money, but I took one new customer away from their new sells.

Translation: “I totally didn’t piss away $44B on a plaything so I could finally name something x.com. It’s totally not my fault in away shape or form. In fact I was forced to buy it because no one can take a joke. There’s no other possible reason why Tesla is doing poorly other than people not buying them to drive into the an office.”

Also, I’m totally wearing clothes, you’re just not [rich, smart, good] enough to see them."

No, it’s because the main thing teslas had going for them is that they were cool. That is no longer the case.

100% that, plus more competition.

There was a point where I had planned on getting a tesla for my next car, but now I’m avoiding it like the plague.

Next year? I think. A few manufacturers will adopt Tesla’s charging platform as standard, effectively creating a North American standard and giving Tesla the W. But this is a good thing, Tesla’s supercharger stations are the only ones that consistently work. The cars are garbage, but they got the charging thing down. So if you’re in the market now, maybe wait for that change to drop. In the short term it’s via an adapter but in the next few years you’ll be able to plug your car directly in to the Tesla stations.

If you can choose between, a BMW, a Mercedes, or any high end brand when you buy electric, why would you get a tesla? Then it’s the exact same for the budget. They used to be the only good option, they’re not anymore.

Then there’s the fact that if you buy a tesla you associate with Musk.

Let’s all hope car companies will be worth less. They would do just fine being worth 50% less

This guy acting like he doesn’t have billions if we stripped him for 50% of his own wealth.

When the company is doing well, it’s because of Elon. When it’s doing bad it’s because of everything else.

Ok, Elon.

I suppose it has nothing to do with alienating your core demographic.

It probably doesn’t help that people are finally getting more educated about all the safety issues Teslas have.

I doubt it’s that so much as other established car makers coming out with some good EVs.

I think those holding a lot of Tesla stock are about to learn the hard way why they should have diversified.
