It definitely looks it (for me the lighting and the eyes) but I don’t think it is. The bag in the bottom right might be puppy’s first food bag, and I don’t think I’ve seen many AI photos with just a partial thing like that that still obeys the laws of reality. If it’s AI, it’s heavily human involved to tweak things until it got perfect.

Oh no! But won’t someone think about what the rent-seekers need? They worked hard for years to capture government regulation allowing them to be not only middle-men, but the only middle men allowed! How can they be expected to turn around and do what the government asks? This is a travesty!

People still used the hell out of it up until the pandemic, despite having a terrible two track design, despite having delayed maintenance for essentially 30 years, and despite having three jurisdictions arguing over how to fund what is truthfully only a commuter rail, not a proper full system.

I’d love to see more investment in Metro, but there needs to be a seismic shift in how we think about it, because commuting is only going to continue to decline in the long term, even if it will bounce a bit in the short term. I’m hoping DC can find a way to incentivize development around metro stops to make metro better for locals rather than M-Fers that the Post keeps insisting are responsible for subsidizing the city through lunches and happy hours. That includes repurposing half empty office buildings, and maybe looking at relaxing the height restriction as you get further out of the city center.

I mean if you think all the Solidworks users and professional CAD people are here, why don’t you make a community? We can have both things. It’s really weird how much you seem to hate FreeCAD from all your comments. Lots of us use it, and it’s growing a lot in the 3d printing community. No one is trying to make you use it at work.

Imagine if I got upset at a Python community being formed because I use SAS more at work and it has a way bigger market share in government statistics or healthcare. Do you see how weird that sounds to everyone else? Do you see why a way bigger percentage of people here, on this open source forum, are probably using and more passionate about open source python instead of closed source and crazy expensive SAS? Yes SAS has been around for way longer, has way better support, and is generally more performant (please don’t @ me python lovers - yes it can be fast, but look inside yourselves - you know it to be true), but like…there are already tons of SAS forums, and no-one uses it outside of a business context, because it’s way too expensive. Even if we were having this conversation 10 years ago when SAS had a much higher user base overall and not just in niche industries, I’m sure there would be plenty of people here who use both, and probably tons of SAS at work users, but that doesn’t eliminate the need for a Python forum. Same thing with CAD.

Nice! More people using it is more better. Anything to prevent the inevitable enshittification of Fusion 360.

Why on earth would you think people who use CAD for a living are the target audience for either FreeCAD or a Lemmy community?

I am loving Darrow, and for some reason I just never bothered adding dislikes but it’s great to have them back.

Wondering if anyone knows of a script to get the likes and dislikes onto the video preview page instead of having to click on the video to see it. Would help me get a sense of the videos YouTube is recommending.

Legitimately the mega corps are the least problem with Google search these days. Once you get past the ads and sponsored content at the top, you get tons of blogspam that is written solely to maximize SEO and get page views. This was bad before generative AI, but now people can generate whole websites on “the best impact hammer” or “how to buy solar panels” without even paying a shitty copywriter. Google is literally unusable for anything like that. I have to go watch 10 YouTube videos to get an idea, and even some of THOSE are text to speech product spec regurgitators, again just content farming for affiliate links.

The internet is just fucking awful these days. Thats why people look for Reddit links. Reddit was its own community for a very long time generating content and curating good content generated elsewhere. It was a filter for all the bullshit filler, but Google looks at everything without nearly as good separation of quality from affiliate spam as Reddit has.

Yeah, is this a repost by a bot for content, or the same guy? I too remember this exact story.
