IDK I would say 3d monitors are a trend that died pretty hard

I find moonlight/sunshine work better, also available on android tvs

I for one welcome the ability to:

  • play flash games,
  • Games without launchers or not on steam
  • Run vortex, wemod, obscure mod installers without winetricks that are more hassle than they’re worth (if they work at all)
  • Literally just not have to find workarounds for everything I want to do that isn’t through steam that adds another hour of research and installation to the process.

You may now begin the downvotes. (Even if you’re wrong I respect your opinions)

Sorry this is just a screenshot from the web, but the advanced menu is just 20 or so toggles for the PC, its definitely missing a few options in there though, I forget what the setting is called ATM but I’m trying to force a display port to run through the GPU instead of the integrated graphics, I’ve done it before successfully

Well I see there’s a way to get to the “advanced” settings by pressing Ctrl+left alt+shift+f2 but its been doing nothing for me, even when going back into windows and unlocking the function keys.

And I have flashed straight from the bios offered on the computers specifications page and confirmed that it matched, I’m really not sure what’s going on here, or why their bios on the downloads page is an older version than what was shipped with the laptop. I know sure as hell the original owner, my dad, wasn’t the one to upgrade.

MSI click bios has been downgraded after RMA?
Hey y'all, i recently had to rma my gs76 stealth after a hardware thing but when i got it back, my VR wouldnt work, i traced that to probably being a bios setting that got reset when the battery was removed, however, when i went into the MSI clickbios, it looked way different and i don't even have the setting im looking for anymore. In fact i have way, way less options than i did before for bios settings, this seems like an older version of the bios, updating from usb to the version on their website just gives me the same bios, idk what's happening. for reference my bios used to look like this ![like this](https://lemmy.world/pictrs/image/13117a80-275f-4586-add7-bff62b5c0ca9.png) and now it looks like this ![ like this](https://lemmy.world/pictrs/image/a8783881-cbda-4a30-9e73-a03769e18dfa.jpeg)

“weird, yeah I got here and this screen just had all this sharpie over it, i dunno how it happened”

Yeah I suppose so, but all I mean is, kids are pretty good at finding ways to entertain themselves

I mean I got along without it, i just played video games and masturbated most of the time

Huh, maybe the article is just exaggerating a bit. Still, it’s concerning to know that gps jamming technologies even exist, if not a bit expected

It might be localized to a certain province maybe? Do you remember reading any local news about outages or anything like that?

Interesting implications, perhaps the global positioning system is not as infallible as we thought

Can confirm, the support forum crowd are dicks

Can confirm this happened to me a few times, especially with dope, you don’t know what you’re talking about

The plan is to pick a goal and save up until my budget gets there , 4090 is a good start, didn’t they just announce a 5x series though? (I honestly could have dreamed that)

Okay fam, I’m done with lag. What GPUs will give me buttery smooth VR performance?
I've had my index for a year or two now, I've got both desktop and my beefy AF laptop that I play it on, but both are still super janky. The laptop is actually better for it believe it or not but I still get some hiccups here and there. I know my bottleneck on the desktop is my GPU, CPU is ready for anything I can pair it with, what's a good one that will never let me see a frame drop again? Come on I know you guys have suggestions Edit: since you're all asking [here's a list I made some time ago with most of my parts](https://newegg.io/be4a64d) Ignore the storage you see, i have like 2nvme drives and several SSD's that I didn't list

It’s possible I accidentally hit the button, still made me laugh though

I mean that’s kind of how chatgpt is now, I’ve been slowly getting into llama, can’t quite get it as good as gpt yet but I’m learning

Tbh I think you’re making a lot of assumptions and ignoring the point of this paper. The small model was used to quickly show proof of generative degradation over itérations when the model was trained on its own output data. The use of opt125 was used precisely due to its small size so they could demonstrate this phenomenon in less iterations. The point still stands that this shows that data poisoning exists, and just because a Model is much bigger doesn’t make sense that it would be immune to this effect, just that it will take longer. I suspect that with companies continually scraping the web and sources for data, like reddit which this article mentions has struck a deal with Google to allow their models to train off of, this process will not in fact take too long as more and more of reddit posts become AI generated in itself.

I think it’s a fallacy to assume that a giant model is therefore “higher quality” and resistant to data poisoning

No no it was totally worth it, if you had done them all in one go the gradient would have been the same on all the models, this way it’s much more interesting and each kid gets their own color

Oh God did you do these one model at a time?

I mean I could be wrong but if you want to be absolutely sure you can pick up a dial indicator for not more than $40 to test the surface

My creality 4.2.7 board just crapped out. Suggestions for an upgrade?
Running an ender 5 and while my board technically works fine, the USB socket popped off and despite my best efforts the joint holders are too damaged to solder a new one. I mean maybe it's about time, I had lost the original config file anyways. Does anyone have an idea of what's "good" these days? Not really looking to spend more than $200 if I can help it

Don’t forget about the possibility of bed warp, if your cover or bed is a little beat up it might be time for a few tests

No I don’t, I bought a bunch of thermistors that I could use to measure the chamber temp at different heights but I have yet to research how to install that into my board

Anyone wanna help me do an autopsy?
So I've been on an ABS kick, I've upgraded the crap out of my ender 5 just for this purpose, better hotend, better build plate and heaters, full enclosure, the works. I've had the worst luck with every single print warping no matter what. That is until I learned about ABS juice, suddenly my prints were *gasp* **Sticking to the plate.** I know, amazing. Soon as printing all sorts of little things, flat things, tall things, skinny things. But there's one thing I hadn't tried, big things. Not I decided to go for broke, and I don't exactly know what the difference may have been here, it might be that the ABS is about a year old even though I kept it inside of a cupboard it may have still absorbed some moisture or something . But I get about halfway through this print, and I swear to God I was pretty sure that it was sticking to the build plate just fine when I hear some cracking. I look over and I see all these little lines starting to form, I'm about halfway through and there's no way I have enough ABS to print the rest of it so I figured just wait and see what it comes up with. Now I'm pretty sure I can make some ABS slurry to maybe fill in the cracks and make it usable enough for my girlfriend, it's just a book rest. But I would like to figure out what happened here and how to prevent it in the future. Do any of you guys who have more experience with abs know what might have gone wrong? Main variables for this print are ABS obviously, 15% infill, 110⁰C build plate, 250⁰c hotend, 240⁰c near the end to try and lower the temperature differential to try to prevent the layer splitting. Entire print speed was set to 60steps and 20 steps for infill with 110% flow rate. Entire print was . 28mm layer height

This is a cause I can really get behind, I remember monsters and magic II I think, was on clamshell phones back in the day. That was the first mobile game to ever make me actually cry. Best part is, theres no ads or in app purchases cause that just was not a thing back then

I mean if I’m looking at a raspberry pi first I think it would be a good assumption to make that £4,200 is a little out of my budget to run a FOSS media server, a little overkill even

Just have the one unfortunately and it’s got other uses, may stop by goodwill and see if ones availible

Yeah no we live in a tiny 700 sq ft apartment lol, smaller is better

Me and my girlfriend but honestly I think only one instance will be going at a time

What’s a good piece of hardware to run a jellyfin server?
I'm wanting to set up my external Seagate drive with all my media on it to run a jellyfin server but I'm not sure which device to use. I'm thinking a raspberry pi but I'm not sure which one. From what I can tell from running the server on my laptop it is fairly CPU intensive for lower end systems Edit: so general consensus seems to be, don't use a pi, it's not powerful enough

I think big pharmas got a new lawsuit cooking.

Jokes aside, good print, and awesome idea

It took me a good minute, but it looked so clean I legitimately thought this was just canvas and not a 3d print, well done!

Tbf that number was originally like 20+ years and then Disney lobbied several times to expand it

My outer walls are printing fine, but my infills are super wispy

A large computing cluster at sea might have big implications for AI legislation
Of course as concerning as the implications are, a small part of me is thinking “ooooh I can’t wait to see what they create”

My deck is stuck on the boot screen after a factory reset
Let me be more specific, it’s stuck after an update after a factory reset, I was having some problems with the deck getting stuck in screen off mode unless I pressed the volume buttons, in which case it would turn the screen on for a second then turn off again. So I decided fuck it, factory reset. It came back in but had an update pending so I did. Here’s where the problems start, I update and it got stuck in a boot loop, okay, so I do the 3 dots and power button to go back to a previous version or whatever, it works fine and plays games until I try to update again, this time in the beta build, now upon restarting it hangs at the steam deck logo once again. I’ll admit I tinkered a bit under the hood but nothing I would consider crazy enough to cause a brick. Heaviest thing I think I did was change the ram to 8gb or something using cryoutilities l, any ideas what I broke?

I just hope this time I can finally keep my desk nice and clean, I cleaned off every pheriphal and surface and it just feels so “nice” right now

Looking for a good anime for me and my gf to watch
So I got her watching a few animes in the past year, our first was beastars, she liked it, then full metal, also one she liked, I showed her some space dandy but she wasn't totally interested, and it's been tough to find one that really hooked her. Then I found it, one day of just "eh whatever I'll put this on" we started romantic killer, and it's surprisingly really good. I like it but she **loves** it. Shell literally play it as her comfort show, I must have seen the season 3 times over now. Now this is great and all, but I still wanna show her more things she'll like, any ideas? I was thinking toradora is a long the same vein but so far my suggestions have fallen kind of flat and I haven't really seen much slice of life, So I'd like to see what you all think
